Mandazi Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon cardamom powder (optional)
- 1 egg (optional)
- ½ cup coconut milk or water
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Mix dry ingredients – In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and cardamom.
- Add wet ingredients – Mix in the egg, butter, and coconut milk (or water) to form a dough.
- Knead the dough – Let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Roll out and cut – Roll the dough to about ½-inch thick and cut into triangles or preferred shapes.
- Fry until golden brown – Heat oil in a pan and deep-fry the Mandazi until golden brown on both sides.
- Drain and serve – Place on a paper towel to remove excess oil. Serve warm.
