HISTORY
Aloe vera is one of the oldest and most traditional medicinal plants in history, with centuries of recorded use. Its name is derived from the Arabic word Alloeh which means “bitter shining substance,” and the Latin word vera which means “truth.” Aloe vera, the ‘plant of immortality’ according to Ancient Egyptians, is alleged to have been used by Cleopatra as part of her beauty regime more than 2,000 years ago. The Aloe plant and its’ derivative products have played a role in medicine and health care dating as far back as the 4th century B.C. when ancient Greek doctors obtained aloe from the island of Socotra in the Indian Ocean.
